Report Interpretation

When your web site is submitted, a report is automatically emailed to you.

We are often asked to explain why some search engines are reporting errors located in the "Failed Submissions" section of the report.

  • Skip Submit by FAST Search/Google/MSN Search etc.

The submission process has skipped submitting your web site to this search engine as submissions to this web site are performed manually. All submissions to the major search engines are performed manually.

  • Server Error

There was a problem contacting the search engine/list/directory. Either the server was offline or the domain name was invalid.

  • Submission Timeout

The server was available, but the submission request timed out waiting for a response from the server to acknowledge receipt of the submission.

  • Connection Timeout

The server domain records were directing the submission to an address which may not have existed and a connection to the server could not be made.

  • Failed

A connection to the server could not be made or there was another unknown problem with the server.

Summaries of these failed descriptions are also located at the foot of the report. It is not uncommon for submissions to lesser known search engines, 'Free For All Links' or directories to fail. If you have any queries regarding failed submissions, please contact us through the Support form.
